What Do Babies Think About?

Think about the nature of your thoughts? Do you think mostly in words? In pictures? Isn’t it bizarre to think about what you think about? Do you ever think that you are the only person who thinks a lot? That you are the only one whose mind seems to have a mind of its own? If I am the one doing all the thinking… how come I think about things I don’t want to think about? Isn’t the word think totally bugging you out right now?

All this thinking about thinking, makes me think about what The Munch thinks about.

I wonder if she ever thinks about being in my womb. When she stares out the window, does she say to herself “Ahhhhh… those were the good ol’ days.” Or does she say anything to herself at all considering she doesn’t talk yet? If her inner monologue is anything like her outer one then her thoughts sound something like “da da da da da…mmmmmmmmm brrrrrm brrrrrrrm brrrrrrrrm. Mamamamamamamamama.”

So without words, is she totally confined to think in images? Flashes of memories of what has already happened? Is it possible for her to think about the future? Or what could have happened? Does she ever have one of those moments of regret where she finally comes up with the perfect comeback? “Man, I totally should have been like ‘you smell like poo.’ Yeah, that would have gotten her. Stupid mommy.”
