I think The Munch is an oracle – like the type of cosmic being who goes into a trance and spouts eternal wisdom. Soon people will make lengthy pilgrimages to lie at her feet, and be privy to her prophecies. I am not sure what Goddess she is communing with, but I do know that The Munch has been touched by divine inspiration.
On Sunday I was lying on my bed with The Munch, and we were cuddling. Nothing was out of the ordinary. I was in my usual state of contemplating existence while believing it is nothing but a meaningless abyss of profound pain and endless significance. You know… standard Sunday afternoon thoughts right??! Am I right???? (Nervous laughter turns to tears).
At a certain moment my mind drifted to the people in my life who have hurt me, and wondering why – just why it all had to happen. Why the universe brought these lessons again and again? Wondering if I would I ever be immune to caring as much as I do, and pondering if I would reach a place where the emotional hold wasn’t strangling me in a chokehold.
I was plagued by that question when The Munch got out of bed, went into her room, and brought back every stuffed animal she had. She created a giant pile of dolls and synthetic fur, and then found this strip of stickers that she started sticking all over her face – placing one directly over her third eye. It was like she was preparing for this ritual to take part in a celestial dance.
The Munch then started yelling in this voice I have never heard come out of her face. It was like the spirit of Delphi possessed her!
“You are never going to know Mamma. You are never going to know!! NOBODY IS EVERY GOING TO KNOW!!”
She went on and on saying that for a while and then moved on to.
“Nobody is true. Nobody is ever true. NOBODY IS TRUE MAMMA! NOBODY IS EVER TRUE!”
And you know what? There is a lot of wisdom in this considering what was on my mind. Yes, Munch you are right. I am never going to know the mysteries of the universe. I will never fully understand why we hurt each other, or what it sounds like when the doves cry. And Munch, you also have a point that nobody is true. It is hard to live your truth and exist in total trueness. Maybe this was exactly what I needed to hear to help ease the tension of it all. Do I need to go sacrifice a lamb now or something?
Check the video below to relish in this moment… and notice how the Munch thinks that she is in fact “true,” as am I… but her elephant is NOT!
